THE black Toyota Hilux Double Cab 4.0 V6, which was forcefully taken from its rightful owner at Otjiwarongo on Saturday morning, was recovered by the police, found abandoned along the B1 main road, 25 km from Tsumeb to Oshivelo.
The robbery occurred early Saturday morning near the new cemetery in the Orwetoveni location, where the victim had stopped to rest while driving from the Etambi Bar towards Extension 6.
According to the police, the victim locked his vehicle doors and windows before falling asleep but was awakened by the sound of stones striking his vehicle and shattering the windscreen and front windows.
It is alleged that he got out of the vehicle and chased the two suspects. In the process, he was struck with a stone on his forehead, sustaining an open wound.
The suspects managed to get into the vehicle and drove off with it.
Besides the vehicle, valued at N$450,000, two wallets containing documents and two cellphones — valued at N$25,000 and N$7,000 respectively — were also stolen and have not been recovered.
However, the vehicle was later found abandoned along the Tsumeb-Oshivelo main road.
