More resignations hit the IPC two days before elections

Staff Reporter

THE official opposition party, IPC, was dealt heavy blows on the eve of the regional and local authority elections when two of its leaders resigned to join the ruling SWAPO.

Deriou Benson, the IPC’s incumbent councillor for the Walvis Bay Urban Constituency, joined SWAPO on Sunday. Bernadus Araeb, former IPC councillor for the Windhoek municipality, did the same — also on Sunday — during a SWAPO rally in the capital city.

The resignations of Araeb and Benson come shortly after several other resignations, including that of IPC candidate for the Ogongo Constituency, Ndalikutya Shonena.
