HONOURABLE Dr. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, Speaker of the National Assembly, received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mohammad Beigi, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral and parliamentary cooperation.
Ambassador Beigi noted that the Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Group is ready to deepen collaboration with the Namibian Parliament through exchanges on issues of mutual interest and the possibility of an official visit to Namibia. He emphasised Iran’s intention to expand its engagement with African nations and described Namibia as a valued partner in that effort.
The Ambassador also expressed gratitude to the Speaker for Namibia’s consistent and principled support for the Palestinian cause, including its condemnation of Israel’s ongoing aggression. He said Iran holds Namibia’s continued advocacy for justice and human rights in high regard.
In her remarks, Dr. Kuugongelwa-Amadhila welcomed the Ambassador’s message of friendship, reaffirming Namibia’s resolve to speak out on matters concerning human dignity. She stressed that Namibia cannot remain silent in the face of injustices that erode humanity, particularly given the solidarity it received during its own struggle for self-determination.
