A WINDHOEK resident was held hostage on Saturday morning and robbed of his vehicle, his cellphone, and an amount of N$4,000 from his e-wallet. The total loss is estimated at N$800,000.
According to the police, the incident occurred when the 41-year-old victim drove to Cimbebacia’s dumping site to drop off pavers at around 07:00. He was allegedly attacked and held hostage by four suspects armed with a pistol and knives.
The attackers took his Huawei P40 smartphone and realised that there was money on his e-wallet. Two of the suspects dragged him into nearby bushes and instructed him to lie on the ground, while the other two drove the victim’s vehicle — a white Toyota Fortuner GD6 — to the nearest ATM to withdraw the money.
Police investigations are ongoing.
