THE number of deaths has risen to nine following Monday evening’s collision between a Iveco bus and a tipper truck in the Oshikoto Region.
Four of the victims have not yet been identified, while the other have been identified, although the police have not released their names or places of residence as their relatives have not yet been informed.
The Iveco bus driver is among those who perished in the accident. The truck driver, who was travelling alone, survived with serious injuries. An unspecified number of Iveco passengers have been admitted to the Onandjokwe District Hospital with injuries of varying severity.
The accident occurred on the Ondangwa–Omuthiya main road at Oniimbwele village.
It is alleged that the truck swerved into the opposite lane, causing the horrific accident.
