Five people take their own lives over the weekend

THE Namibian Police have recorded five self-harm cases by hanging across the country between Friday and Saturday — four involving men and one involving a young woman.

According to the weekend crime report, in the Endola district, the body of a 37-year-old man was discovered hanging from a tree branch in a mahangu field at Omutemo village around 07:51 on Friday. No foul play was suspected, and no suicide note was found.

At Outapi, a 41-year-old man allegedly hanged himself with a string from the roof of his rented room at Ombwa-yalata Otina location around 06:00 the same day. His girlfriend discovered the body. Police confirmed that he left a suicide note and that no foul play was suspected.

In Seeis, a 29-year-old man reportedly used his belt to hang himself from a tree near a lodge after a minor quarrel with a colleague over a cigarette. He was found around 02:00, and the incident was reported at 07:00 on Friday. No foul play was suspected.

At Kosis settlement in the Bethanie district, a 33-year-old man was found hanging from the roof with a wire around his neck at around 18:09 on Friday. His employer, concerned after he failed to report for work since Wednesday, discovered the decomposed body. Police confirmed no foul play was suspected.

In Wanaheda, a 23-year-old woman was declared dead at 05:04 on Saturday after her body was found hanging from a tree along Omulunga Street in Hakahana. No foul play was suspected.
