TAXES NOT PAID: Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) member John-Louw Mouton has raised the alarm over possible corrupt practices taking place at the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) in a case where taxes worth millions have not been paid to NamRA by NBC. “Is the minister aware of the corruption happening at NBC? If NBC is not a profit-making entity, can the minister explain how it is possible that employees pay tax every month, but NBC failed to pay the taxes to NamRA and therefore needed a government bailout in the form of a tax and penalty write-off of N$353 million? Where did this money go? Why is NBC not being investigated? If a state-owned enterprise needs a bailout, this is the first alarm bell that should go off—that there is corruption,” Mouton said, giving Namcor as an example.
