UPDATE: The Mariental Municipal Council has written off the debt of senior citizens amounting to about N$1.26 million. This was announced by the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Mariental Municipal Council, Ellen Ngozu, who explained that a total of 249 accounts of senior citizens who were in arrears were written off. The relief for the senior citizens and the clearing of their debt goes alongside the full rollout of prepaid water meters, which will commence within the next two weeks in the southern town.
