NAMWATER has informed the Lüderitz Town Council and residents that a major leak was detected on the town’s main supply line on Wednesday, 27 August 2025. The leakage, located beneath the roadway, has made repairs particularly challenging.
Maintenance teams began preparatory work and are carrying out full repairs. To facilitate the work, water supply to the town reservoir has been shut down since 08:00 today. Residents are urged to use available water sparingly.
NamWater expects repairs to be completed by the end of the day, after which pumping will resume. However, with the reservoir currently at 57% capacity, water levels will remain low and require several days to recover. Normal water pressure is anticipated to be restored by Sunday, 31 August 2025.
NamWater apologises for the inconvenience and assures residents that its teams are working diligently to restore full supply as quickly as possible. The utility appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this period.
