HIGH Court Judge Orben Sibeya has nullified a decision by the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) to remove Swapo councillor Benita Imbamba as Chairperson of the Erongo Regional Council and reinstated her with effect from 31 July 2025.
In a court order, Justice Sibeya ruled that the removal of Imbamba, who is the Swapo councillor for the Arandis Constituency, was unlawful and null and void, and thus set aside.
Following a vote of no confidence, Imbamba was replaced with IPC regional councillor for the Walvis Bay Rural Constituency, Donatus Florian Tegako.
It is alleged that Imbamba was replaced after she raised questions about alleged corruption within the IPC-led Erongo Regional Council.
