UPDATE: Windhoek Magistrate Monica Andjaba has granted bail to former Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform McAlbert Hengari and his 31-year-old co-accused in the amount of N$15,000. Andjaba said that the court questions the State’s assertions that it has a prima facie case and that there is no evidence before the court that Hengari paid a bribe to the alleged rape victim to withdraw a rape case. She added that the alleged N$220,000, which is claimed to have been paid, was not in the possession of the rape victim but was found on the front seat of the car, between Hengari’s feet. She added that the accused would be granted bail with conditions. While both were granted bail, the co-accussed in the matter cannot be named as he is the brother to the alleged rape victim.
