SISA Namandje, the legal practitioner for former minister Pohamba Shifeta, is demanding that the Namibian police investigate a rape complainant for abuse of public resources.
According to him, the rape accusations levelled against Shifeta by his 27-year-old ex-lover are false and clearly motivated by “spite and vengeance.”

In a letter addressed to Lieutenant-General Joseph Shikongo, the Inspector General of the police, Namandje demanded that complainant Albertina Mengela be investigated for abusing the police’s resources by opening a false criminal case “to terrorise” Shifeta and his family.
The lawyer also requested that the police investigate why the details of the false allegations against his client were leaked to the media without Shifeta being given an opportunity to explain.
Shifeta is the biological father of Albertina’s five-year-old daughter.
She is accused of conducting a campaign of harassment against Shifeta and his wife, which led the couple to obtain a protection order against her.
Only after the protection order was granted earlier this month did Albertina register a case of rape, which allegedly occurred on Independence Day, 21 March 2025.
