UPDATE: Peter Elindi, the businessman, has denied that he would flee the country if granted bail in relation to the ongoing NAMCOR corruption case involving over N$400 million. He said that he does not even speak to Victor Malima, another suspect in the saga, who is alleged to have escaped to Angola after the arrest of nine others in the matter. Malima is related to the wife of Peter Elindi and is said to have grown up in Elindi’s household. “Are you aware that Victor Malima is sought by the ACC and Namibian Police? Victor Malima should be added to this case, as his company received money from Enercon. If you are released, and because you have a very personal and direct relationship with Simaneka Victor Malima, you will interfere with police investigations,” State Prosecutor Basson Lilungwe said to Elindi. To this, Elindi said he does not have a personal and close relationship with Victor. “That relationship, in terms of speaking to him, does not exist anymore,” he said, adding that he was only close to Malima before he grew up. The State Prosecutor alleged that Malima escaped to Angola without passing through the border post.
