FORMER President Hifikepunye Pohamba was in a jovial mood when a delegation of senior police officers from the Omusati Region visited him at his Okanghudi village residence in the Ohangwena Region on Monday.
He was such a happy person and could not stop thanking the law enforcement officers for driving all the way from Omusati to pay him a courtesy call.

Pohamba spoke at some length about the country’s history, particularly the liberation struggle and his involvement in pre- and post-independence politics, including his two terms as Head of State.
The Omusati Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, who led the delegation, said that the courtesy visit was part of the police’s ongoing community engagement, which also includes meet-and-greet visits to prominent personalities within Omusati. However, an exception was made to also visit the former president in the neighbouring Ohangwena Region.
Basson thanked the elderly statesman and all Namibian heroes and heroines — whether fallen or living — for their immense sacrifices for the attainment of independence and their tireless contributions after independence.
