THE National Assembly will resume in September after the session was adjourned.
This was confirmed by Sakeus Kadhikwa, the National Assembly’s Public Relations Officer, who noted that Members of Parliament engaged in extensive deliberations on various pressing national issues during the first session of the Eighth Parliament, including the tabling and discussion of several significant Bills and Motions.
He outlined the key achievements of the recently concluded session, which include the tabling and passing of the Appropriation Bill, the notice of tabling of the Land Bill—scheduled for formal introduction on 3 September 2025—as well as the tabling of the Regional Councils Bill, which remains on the Assembly’s Order Paper for further discussion.
He also noted that a number of international instruments, motions, annual reports, questions, and reports of the Auditor-General on Offices, Ministries and Agencies were tabled during the first session of the Eighth Parliament.
“Throughout the recess, the National Assembly’s Standing Committees will continue to carry out their oversight functions. Committee members will engage with selected stakeholders during the months of July 2025 and August 2025 to ensure continued parliamentary oversight and public accountability,” Kadhikwa added.
