THE National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) recently participated in the Green Hydrogen Skills Exchange Tour in the Netherlands from 12 to 17 May 2025, aimed at identifying collaborative opportunities between Namibian and Dutch institutions.

“The Netherlands is internationally recognised for its advanced green hydrogen infrastructure, innovative public-private partnerships, and a strong ecosystem supporting renewable energy research and development,” NCRST highlighted.

The skills exchange tour, organised by the Green Hydrogen Programme, aimed to foster international cooperation in green hydrogen research and innovation, as well as to facilitate knowledge exchange on hydrogen production, storage, transport, and utilisation technologies. The Commission noted that the tour provided valuable insights into policy development, regulatory frameworks, and funding mechanisms that support thriving hydrogen ecosystems.

Participants also visited leading Dutch institutions, including the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, the Port of Rotterdam, TU Delft, as well as industry leaders and hydrogen start-ups.

“NCRST explored numerous opportunities and models for supporting research and development (R\&D) and innovation, particularly within the context of Namibia’s growing interest in sustainable energy,” the Commission added.
