Government signs agreements to support workers affected since 2015

Staff Reporter

IN a significant move to address long-standing employment challenges, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations, signed agreements with seven designated entities.

The agreements pertain to the release of reserved employment quotas, which were originally allocated to support specific government employment objectives. With the release of these quotas, the designated entities will now play an active role in the Government Employment Redress Programme — a national initiative designed to absorb workers who have experienced job losses as far back as 2015.

The coordinated effort underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to reintegrating vulnerable workers into the job market and promoting inclusive economic recovery.
