According to Uutoni, the interest and commitment shown in promoting sports, particularly boxing, is remarkable. Hence, the aim is to advance boxing.
“Boxing does not discriminate; it’s a sport open to all genders,” he said.
He added that boxing is one of the few sports that attract a large audience, hence it’s important for Namibians to invest in the sport for the benefit of all.
Further, Uutoni indicated that the northern parts of the country have vast talent which needs to be explored and given the platform to showcase their skills without limiting themselves.
He then urged all coaches to collaborate and form a cohesive team capable of competing effectively against boxers from the southern regions of Namibia.
Meanwhile, Joseph Benhard, the founder of the MTC-Kilimanjaro Boxing Club, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and the enthusiasm shown by the participants.
Looking ahead, Benhard announced plans to extend the coaching clinics to other regions in the coming months, with Ohangwena, Omusati, and Kunene earmarked as the next locations.
He stressed that the initiative aims to broaden the reach of boxing training and talent development across Namibia.
Various coaches told those in attendance that, in order to achieve, one needs to be disciplined and always respectful of their coaches.
They also reminded the learners that their education should be their first priority at all times.
