Namibia’s first salmon farm boosted with N$41 million investment

Staff Reporter

NAMIBIA’S fishing industry is entering a new era with the launch of the country’s first-ever salmon farming project, following a significant investment of N$41 million secured by the African Aquaculture Company (AAC).

The project, set to be developed near Lüderitz, is backed by a partnership between Namibian and Norwegian investors AAC. Should the initial phase prove successful, the total investment could rise to N$123 million.

This initiative marks a major step in diversifying Namibia’s aquaculture sector. It is expected to stimulate economic growth, generate employment opportunities, and enhance skills development within the fishing industry.

According to AAC, the salmon farm will not only support job creation but also provide a boost to local businesses and communities in the region.
