THREE people lost their lives in an accident on the A1 road near Gross Barmen Bridge on Friday.
According to the police, the accident occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle when a tyre burst, causing it to overturn. They were travelling in a white Toyota Double Cab bakkie with Oshakati registration plates.
“The vehicle was carrying a total of ten occupants. Three fatalities and seven slight to serious injuries were recorded,” the police said.
The police confirmed that local emergency services responded promptly to the scene and the injured were transported to Okahandja State Hospital for medical treatment.
The deceased have not yet been identified, but authorities are in the process of tracing their next of kin.
