THE Namutoni Environmental Education Centre plays a vital role in raising environmental awareness among school and university groups, youth, and individuals.
Therefore, Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Indileni Daniel, officially handed over office equipment and materials worth N$151,128.74 to be used at the centre.
The centre was established in the early 1990s and is open to all members of the public, including schools and tertiary institutions, to learn about the importance of the environment and the services provided by ecosystems.

“The equipment and materials are just the beginning. Moving forward, we plan to undertake minor renovations to the building and improve the landscaping around the centre,” she said.
She added that these efforts aim to ensure the provision of high-quality environmental education to Namibian children and other user groups visiting our flagship Etosha National Park.
Daniel explained that the programmes cover critical topics such as biodiversity conservation, career guidance in environmental management, waste management, climate change, wildlife protection, and human-wildlife conflict management.
Furthermore, she stressed that while the centre continues to serve these groups effectively, it requires improvements to enhance its image and provide better services to schools, universities, and other user groups.
Daniel handed over office equipment consisting of one projector, two desktop computers, three monitor screens, one mono printer, and two laptops.
She also provided forty-five pillowcases, pillow inners, mattress protectors, fitted sheets, thirty-six table forks, thirty-six steel teaspoons, thirty-six spoons, twenty-four hi-ball glass crates, and six 9.5-litre single steel chafing dishes.
