ONCE IN MANY LIFETIMES RECORD: One of the foremost entrepreneurs in Swakopmund and on the coast of Namibia, and owner of the Lighthouse Group, Quinton Liebenberg, has provided Namibia and the world with breathtaking drone footage, capturing the legendary Swakop River as it flowed into the Atlantic earlier this week. This river rarely meets the ocean, but this time Liebenberg was ready with the latest drone technology to capture this marvel of nature for posterity. He kindly gave Informanté permission to use it, and Johan Nel, one of Namibia’s well-known video editors and cameramen, compiled this spectacular record of the coast and the Swakop River as never seen before. In highlighting the beauty of this extraordinary natural occurrence, he also paid tribute to the entrepreneurship of mostly Namibians from the northern frontier, who catch freshwater fish higher upstream, just a few hundred metres from Namibia’s famous saltwater angling spots, both from the beach and by ski boat excursions.
