THE Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) has announced that it is experiencing challenges at the Buffelshoek Booster Station, which supplies water to the town of Otjiwarongo.
“We are experiencing a significant drop in water levels at our main reservoir due to a supply interruption from Omatjene to Otjiwarongo. The disruption is a result of power supply failures that have been experienced over the past few weeks due to the impact of heavy rain. The situation has worsened even further due to a motor failure at our Buffelshoek Booster Station,” Ngutonua Ludwig, the Acting Operations Manager of NamWater’s Business Central Unit, said.
He revealed that on Thursday morning, 3 April 2025, the large reservoir recorded a water level of 18%, while the small reservoir stood at 34%. Currently, he added, the town is receiving water only from the Omarassa line, which is insufficient to meet the overall demand.
Ludwig disclosed that the total inflow to the terminal reservoir is 214 m³/h, while the outflow is 412 m³/h.
“The technical team is working on restoring the water supply from Buffelshoek to Otjiwarongo. NamWater sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused and assures you that our technicians are working diligently to resolve the situation,” Ludwig added.
