Lüderitz to experience low water pressure due to pipeline repair

Staff Reporter

THE Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) has announced that Lüderitz is currently experiencing low reservoir levels (6.3%) due to three pipe breaks detected on Wednesday, 5 March 2025, along the main supply pipeline.

“NamWater’s maintenance teams have successfully repaired the damaged sections, and pumping operations resumed in the early hours of 6 March 2025. However, due to the length and complexity of the supply system, water is only expected to reach the terminal reservoir at approximately 14:00 today,” said Lot Ndamanomhata, NamWater’s Head of Public Relations and Corporate Communications.

As a result, Ndamanomhata added, reservoir levels may drop further before full system recovery, leading to low water pressure across Lüderitz. He assured that NamWater is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and assure residents that our teams are working diligently to resolve the issue. We urge all consumers to use water sparingly during this period to ensure equitable distribution until full supply is restored,” Ndamanomhata added.
