THE Ohangwena regional leadership visited Founding President Sam Nujoma’s homestead at Etunda in the Okahao Constituency to pay their last respects on Thursday.
The delegation, led by Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga, also included former Governor Usko Nghaamwa, Eenhana Town Mayor Omri-onn Kavandje, Helao Nafidi Mayor Darius Shaalukeni, and other various leaders.
Ndeitunga described his journey with Nujoma during the liberation struggle, including his time in Cuba.
According to Ndeitunga, their comrade is no more. He has laid the path they should follow and must continue working toward building a desirable Namibian house.
“We have been with Nujoma for years, and he never failed to encourage us in our pursuit of a free Namibia,” he said.
He added that Namibians have indeed lost a great man, a peace-loving person, and a unifier.
Meanwhile, former Governor Usko Nghaamwa remembered the late president as a fearless leader who had the interests of the Namibian people at heart.
He urged Namibians to carry on where the late Nujoma left off and to forever cherish the lessons learned from him.
