HEAVY showers have continued to sweep across the country, causing flooding in several areas, particularly in the north.
Ondangwa, Outjo, Tsumeb, and Outapi are among the northern areas that have recently experienced heavy rainfall, with videos shared on social media capturing the impact. The most striking of these photos and videos were shared by MICT Omusati, showing how the recent rainfall left the streets of Outapi flooded.
A number of other places across the country also saw significant showers recently. These included places such as Windhoek in the Khomas Region, Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa Region, Omaruru in the Erongo Region, and Aries in the Hardap Region, among others.
According to the Namibia Meteorological Service, more heavy showers are expected in the northern and central regions on Friday, with possible flash floods persisting. Rundu, Ondangwa, and Windhoek have once again been highlighted as some of the places likely to see showers on Friday.
As flash floods remain a significant concern across the country, the public is urged to exercise caution, avoid crossing flooded or fast-flowing water, stay indoors during thunderstorms, and keep animals sheltered for their safety. Road users are advised to drive cautiously, as rainy conditions create slippery roads and reduce visibility.
