CHIEF Oswin Mukulu of the Ombalantu Traditional Authority has expressed his heartfelt appreciation for what the late Founding President Sam Nujoma has done for the Namibian nation, especially in matters related to tradition and culture.
Chief Mukulu said that President Nujoma restored and was the Patron of the Olufuko Festival, which is hosted yearly at Outapi in the Omusati Region, and was also the brain behind the establishment of the unified Omagongo Festival.
“He fondly exhorted us to teach the young generation the culture, saying that a nation without culture is a nation without value and will not earn the respect of other nations … it is like a journey to nowhere,” said Chief Mukulu, citing the late President Nujoma.
Mukulu said that President Nujoma prioritized unity, as exemplified in his oft-repeated phrase, “A people united for the common good will always emerge victorious.”
Said Chief Mukulu: “The friend of the Namibian people has fallen silent. The promoter of peace is no more. The Father of the Nation has passed on. Let our hero and true leader, who paved the way for us and left us a priceless inheritance, rest in eternal peace.”
Chief Mukulu said that a joint message from all eight traditional authorities of Ovawambo will be issued soon by their Chairperson, Chief Herman Iipumbu.
