A 72-YEAR-OLD Chinese man has been arrested after he was found illegally mining copper in Okahao, in the Ruacana Constituency.
According to the weekend crime bulletin, the elderly man was arrested on Friday, 7 February 2025, on allegations that he removed natural resources without a license, operated mining activities without a license, and carried out mining without a prospecting license at Orondjize village in the Ruacana Constituency between January 2025 and 7 February 2025. He was further found in possession of minerals (suspected copper) acquired through unlawful activities and is accused of acquiring, possessing, and/or using the proceeds of unlawful activities.
Police investigations continue.
