MTC is set to offer 40 Namibian youth an opportunity to participate in a two-week-long training program under the MTC 4Life initiative, aiming to help them create their own employment.
The selected candidates will receive training in various trades, including barbering, brick manufacturing, animation, carpentry, hairstyling, electricity and solar energy, upholstery, and welding.
MTC spokesperson Erasmus Nekundi said the training will be conducted by contracted, qualified Namibian trainers. Upon completion, trainees will receive a start-up toolkit and N$5,000 in capital.

According to Nekundi, this year’s applicants are expected to come from four regions: Erongo, Hardap, Omaheke, and Zambezi.
“This program is meant to benefit all regions. Since last year, we have adopted a targeted approach, tackling a few regions at a time. This strategy ensures effective program implementation and a meaningful impact,” he said.
He added that last year, the program covered Omusati, Kavango East and West, Kunene, and Otjozondjupa, and now they are focusing on regions that have not yet been included.
Nekundi explained that the MTC 4Life program is a Corporate Social Investment initiative aimed at training and empowering youth with entrepreneurial and practical business skills to start or expand their small and medium enterprises.
He emphasized that the initiative is designed to reduce unemployment by equipping willing youth with the skills and resources needed to create job opportunities for themselves and others.
“We have embedded in our business practice a culture of meaningfully contributing to our country’s social and economic development. This is why we drive and uphold programs such as MTC 4Life, where the goal is to reduce youth unemployment by imparting necessary skills and providing the much-needed capital to kickstart and grow their own micro-businesses,” he added.
Interested candidates have until 27 February 2025 to submit their applications.
