OSHAKATI-based football club Young Chiefs has appointed Abraham Shaanika of Sash Trading as the club’s new president, effective from January.
The club also appointed Daniel Ashipala, known as DJ Maldini, and Ferdinand Ndahangwapo as members of the management team, with portfolios as media coordinator and team manager, respectively.
The two, who made a comeback as members of management, were previously dismissed from the team during their playing days by the old management when they were in the Premier League.
The club was established by a football-crazy woman, Sissy Shilunga, in 1989.
The majority of the playing personnel were part of a disgruntled breakaway group from the town’s leading club, Golden Bees, who struggled to make it into the first team.
According to Ashipala, with the new leadership, they are ready to deliver positive results.
“The management is requesting all Young Chiefs supporters, both old and new, to come in large numbers to support the boys whenever they are playing,” he said.
Furthermore, Ashipala appealed to companies and individuals to come on board and assist the team in any way possible. Their team has a bus, which they would like to have branded with a company’s name, logo, or products, depending on the agreement.
Moreover, the club recently received a sponsorship of kits and training equipment from Dritoven Engineering.
