THE Namibian police in the Omusati Region have reported the death of a one-year-old boy who allegedly drowned in a container of marula wine while his grandmother was busy preparing lunch in the kitchen.
The incident occurred in Olunkavu village, Ogongo Constituency, on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the police report, the deceased child—identified as Abed Hango Iipinge—drowned in a plastic bucket filled with marula wine inside a thatched hut where he was playing with two other children while their grandmother was preparing lunch in the kitchen.
Incidents of minor children drowning in buckets have become a common occurrence in the northern regions, raising serious concerns about child safety.
