FOURTEEN trial-awaiting suspects escaped from the holding cells at Ruacana in the Omusati Region sometime between 15:00 and 20:00 on Monday.
According to the police, the suspects opened an unlocked burglar door between the cells and the courtroom, passed through the court corridor, and broke the court door to enter the courtroom before proceeding to open a window to pass through and escape.
The police said that the escapees are all well-known, but none have been rearrested yet.
