IT WAS all smiles as Cecilia Nghishiilenhapo walked back home in the Evululuko informal settlement of Oshakati from the Omandengu Community Centre on Tuesday afternoon, carrying maize meal, cooking oil, and fresh fish.
She was one of 66 beneficiaries of a donation from the Office of the Regional Governor and the Mayor of Oshakati to the vulnerable residents of Evululuko.
“This is a clear testimony that our leaders know that we do exist and that we need their support. These kinds of assistance bring us joy and hope,” said Nghishiilenhapo.
The beneficiaries of the donation were carefully identified and registered by community leaders in cooperation with town council officials.
Each beneficiary received a 10kg bag of maize meal, a 750ml bottle of cooking oil, and a box of fresh fish.
