ECN continues to release election results

THE Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) today continued with the release of official election results.

Elsie Nghikembua, chairperson of the ECN, explained that since yesterday’s announcement, the Commission has received more results from the constituency collation centers, which have now been verified and certified.


“Today, we have results from 13 constituencies in respect of the Presidential Elections and results from 10 constituencies in respect of the National Assembly Elections, which have been verified and certified by the Commission,” Nghikembua said.

According to the ECN, a total of 16 constituencies out of 121 have, to date, completed counting in the National Assembly elections. In this category, the Swapo Party leads with 54.52% of the votes, followed by the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) with 17.46%, and the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) receiving a total of 5.65% of the votes.

In the Presidential ballot, 10 out of 121 constituencies have finalized counting, with Swapo Party’s Presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, leading with 48.1% of the votes, followed by the IPC’s Presidential candidate, Dr. Panduleni Itula, with 28.9%, and Bernadus Swartbooi of the Landless People’s Movement receiving 8.61% of the votes.
