A TOTAL of 25,055 people cast their votes for one of 15 presidential candidates in the Rundu Urban constituency of the Kavango East Region, with Swapo candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah securing more than half of the total valid votes.
According to preliminary results, Nandi-Ndaitwah garnered 16,270 votes, while IPC’s Panduleni Itula came a distant second with 4,998 votes. McHenry Venaani of the PDM was the third most-voted candidate, receiving 1,199 votes.
The remaining 12 candidates shared 2,588 votes, with AR candidate Job Amupanda taking the largest share (545 votes) and LPM’s Bernadus Swartbooi receiving the smallest share (39 votes).
In the National Assembly election, the Swapo Party, IPC, and AR emerged as the most-voted parties in the Rundu Urban constituency, where 24,991 valid votes were counted.
Swapo secured 14,783 votes, while IPC and AR received 3,826 and 1,547 votes, respectively. The remaining 4,835 votes were distributed among the 18 other political parties.
