A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy tragically drowned in a plastic drum filled with water in the Ohangwena Region.
Ohangwena Regional Crime Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Melanie Mburuu, said that the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Okambembe B village.
According to Mburuu, the child’s lifeless body was discovered in a plastic drum of water.
She explained that the boy had reportedly been left at home with other children while the parents went to polling stations for the election.
“Upon their return, the deceased was not with the other children, prompting the mother to search for him. One of the children ran to a small garden behind the house, where the boy’s lifeless body was found in the plastic drum,” Mburuu said.
The body has been transported to the Engela State Mortuary pending an autopsy.
