Next Capital Makes a Dashing Contribution

The annual Nedbank Desert Dash cycling challenge, now in its 20th year, continues to grow, earning its place as one of the not-to-be-missed events on the social calendar for cycling enthusiasts across Namibia. This grueling 400-kilometer race winds through the gravel paths of the Namib Desert, the world’s oldest desert. Next Capital has stepped up for the youth by supporting one of the young teams competing in this epic event, which kicks off on December 6, 2024.

With over 1,200 mountain bikers departing from The Grove Mall in Windhoek, participants will once again face some of the most challenging conditions imaginable. The four-person team sponsored by Next Capital consists of three boys and one girl: Michiel Steenkamp, Monica Steenkamp, Gerhard Becker, and Xander van Rooyen.

During the handover of the cycling kits, team leader Xander van Rooyen expressed the team’s gratitude:

“This is one of the most physically demanding sports events in Namibia, requiring extraordinary mental toughness and focus. We wish to thank Next Capital and the Van Rooyen Family for their generous support in enabling this journey for us. We will do our utmost to represent our team and Next Capital with honor and determination. This journey is not just about competition but also about embodying resilience, teamwork, the spirit of excellence, and the demonstration of Namibian grit.”

The Nedbank Desert Dash competition remains one of Namibia’s most sought-after cycling events and is gaining “bucket-list” status. Next Capital extends its best wishes to the team and is confident in their ability to rise above challenges, demonstrate their skills, and make everyone proud.
