A CASE of murder has been reported in the capital after an unidentified man was discovered shot dead in a vehicle parked along the Western Bypass road.

According to Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga of the Namibian Police, the murder occurred on 17 November 2024 at an unknown time, but the scene was reported to the police at around 4:20 a.m.

“A lifeless body of a male was discovered inside a motor vehicle, lying in the back seat on the Western Bypass B1 road. It is alleged that a security guard noticed a motor vehicle parked along the road around 2:00 a.m. and alerted their boss, who informed the City Police. They arrived at the scene around 4:20 a.m. Upon arrival, a white Polo was discovered without a license disc and no plate numbers,” Kuwinga said.

He added that one set of plate numbers, reading N47196W, was found discarded along the road, while another set, reading N704A, was found between the front seats.

Kuwinga said that a bullet hole was also found in the small window of the rear left door.

“It was further observed that a lifeless body of an unknown male was found with one bullet wound on the left buttock, with no exit wound. Two black bags containing clothing, various shoes, a cap, and a shaving machine were also discovered in the vehicle’s boot. A mobile phone believed to belong to the deceased was also found in the vehicle.

The number plate N704A was traced, and communication with the owner revealed that the vehicle had been rented on Friday, 15 November 2024, from Otjiwarongo. No arrests have been made at this stage. Police investigations continue,” Kuwinga concluded.
