THE Tsumeb leadership remains committed to creating an environment that nurtures youth potential through practical initiatives like urban agriculture, educational support, and continuous stakeholder engagement.
This is according to Tsumeb Mayor Mathews Hangula, who spoke during a youth engagement held in the town on Monday.
The youth conference was launched in 2018 with the aim of empowering young Namibians in their pursuit of knowledge, skills, and opportunities.
This year, the theme of the conference, “Celebrating Craftsmanship, Creativity, and Excellence in a Diverse Namibia,” serves as a powerful reminder of the integral role that innovation, ambition, and entrepreneurship play in shaping the country’s future.
Hangula indicated that their urban agriculture programs provide young people with essential skills in sustainable food production, while educational support and vocational training initiatives equip them with the knowledge and tools needed for economic empowerment.
Additionally, he said that through regular engagement forums, they ensure youth voices are actively included in the community’s development strategies.
“To our young attendees, today is about your ideas, ambitions, and leadership. You are the changemakers of tomorrow, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact of your contributions on Tsumeb and beyond,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tsumeb Copper Festival Chairperson Julius Gaeseb, along with the entire Organizing Committee, said that the conference stands as a vital platform for cultivating resilience, creativity, and economic acumen among their youth.
“This will position them as key drivers of Namibia’s socio-economic development across various sectors, including agriculture, information technology, and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) growth,” he said.
He added that they recognize the nation’s future rests in the hands of their youth, and they are dedicated to creating an enabling environment that fosters growth, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
He said that the municipality stands ready to collaborate with them, provide resources, and develop initiatives that empower young leaders to make meaningful contributions to their community and economy.
Gaeseb reiterated their unwavering commitment to supporting the youth, emphasizing their dedication to harnessing the diverse talents and perspectives of young people, recognizing that each brings unique insights that can contribute to the nation’s prosperity.
He stressed that their goal extends beyond mere inspiration; they aim to equip youth with the necessary tools to lead economic transformation and effect meaningful change in their communities.
