A 38-YEAR-OLD woman was reportedly caught with illicit goods at the Oshivelo checkpoint on Thursday.
Oshikoto Regional Commander, Commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku, said the incident occurred around 12:00 on Thursday.
Kalompo-Nashikaku indicated that the suspect faces charges of contravening Act 1/2010 of the Tobacco Control Act, Section 16 and 17, Regulation 2(a-c), for the possession of illicit goods.
“It is alleged that during a stop-and-search, the suspect was found in possession of illicit goods. She was travelling as a passenger from the North to Windhoek in a white Toyota Quantum minibus,” she said.
The suspect was found with 223 bars of Yes cigarettes, valued at N$44,600.
She is expected to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
