THE Roads Authority (RA) has announced that there will be a temporary traffic deviation on the Windhoek-Hosea Kutako International Airport Road from Thursday, 17 October 2024, until 2025.
RA’s Corporate Communication Officer, Constance Mwilima, revealed that the deviation is necessitated by an upgrade project along the road.
“The affected area starts three kilometres east of the current temporary airport turnoff and 0.4 kilometres west of the M51 road turnoff. The deviation will channel traffic around the construction site and will be in effect until July 2025,” Mwilima said.
She assured that road signs have been installed to guide motorists through the temporary routes and advised road users to allow an extra five minutes of travel time to avoid delays.
“Lastly, motorists are advised to adhere to the speed limits and exercise caution when travelling in the construction area. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all motorists for their patience and cooperation during this period,” Mwilima added.
