Inhabitants of Oshikoto warned against scammers

Maria David

THE Oshikoto Region has urged its inhabitants to be aware of scammers asking bidders and service providers to make payments in exchange for bid awards.

Regional spokesperson Petrus Nehale, in a statement issued on Sunday, said they have learned of fraudulent calls from individuals pretending to be employees of the Oshikoto Regional Council, attempting to solicit funds.

According to Nehale, the Oshikoto Regional Council does not negotiate with bidders regarding the awarding of procurement contracts or call bidders to inform them about procurement awards.

“Council upholds the highest standards of ethics and integrity when dealing with public procurement, and all our bid advertisements, notices of selection, and awards are usually uploaded on the website and communicated to successful bidders in writing,” he said.

He then cautioned stakeholders not to fall victim to such fraudulent schemes.
