THE Oshakati Town Council has urged its residents to be alert against scammers who are contacting residents under false pretenses, claiming to be representatives of the Council soliciting funds in exchange for bid awards or plot allocations.
Town spokesperson, Katarina Kamari, issued a statement on Wednesday, saying that the Council does not request any form of payment or funds over the phone.
“If you receive any suspicious calls or messages claiming to be from the Council, do not engage,” she said.
She urged everyone to remain vigilant and to verify any communication that appears unusual or questionable.
Kamari indicated that people should stay informed and stay safe.
She encouraged people to report such incidents immediately to the Oshakati Town Council or their nearest police station.
