THE Secretary to the Cabinet, Dr George Simataa, has officially launched his book entitled “Timeless: My Career in Public Service” this week.
Speaking at the launch, President Nangolo Mbumba explained that Simataa’s book aims to articulate the history of the Civil Service and the various transformations in administrative governance over the years. The President emphasised that civil servants are often overlooked, but they play a crucial role in shaping the identity and culture of the government.
“From the onset of our independence, the formation of the Civil Service was a key priority for the Government, as it was seen as a vital component of Namibia’s governance system and central to the development and implementation of government policy,” he said.
President Mbumba described Simataa as a reminder that being a civil servant is a great honour and an opportunity to partake in the shaping of policy in the pursuit of national development. He added that, although the book primarily focuses on Simataa’s experiences in the public service, many other public servants, politicians, and Namibians from all walks of life can relate to it.
“I am sure that within the pages of this book, there will be something of particular interest to everyone, which will evoke certain feelings, inspire, or take one down memory lane,” the President added.
