THE Sikondo Green Scheme in the Kavango West Region has been named Producer of the Year for its outstanding wheat production, while the Etunda Green Scheme in the Omusati Region received recognition as Emerging Wheat Producer of the Year.
Both projects were recently honoured by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform at the 2024 National Agronomy and Horticulture Awards (NAHA), held earlier this week, acknowledging their dedication to agriculture.

“This achievement highlights the dedication and collective efforts invested since the Green Schemes came under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform in 2022,” the ministry said.
The ministry further emphasised that the awards align with their commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture in Namibia, fostering the continued success and growth of the Green Schemes.
“There are currently eight Green Schemes in production, all working towards enhancing Namibia’s food security and agricultural excellence. Congratulations to the teams for their hard work and for leading the way in Namibia’s agronomy and horticulture sectors,” the agriculture ministry added.
