Prophetess Justina passes on

Staff Reporter

JUSTINA Ndahepuluka Haihambo, a well-known prophetess in the North, has died at the age of 98.

She passed away at the “House of God,” her residence in the Ondjokwe village, Onankali area of the Oshikoto Region, on Tuesday morning.

Known mostly by her first name, Justina, she declared herself a prophetess in the early 1970s and has since built up a cult-like group of devotees who believed every message from her as coming from God.

They also believe that many of her predictions have come to pass, further cementing their devotion to her.

The prophetess’s followers flocked to the “House of God” from all corners of the country once a month. Some went as far as permanently relocating to her Ondjokwe residence, a move she encouraged.

As a Lutheran, she enjoyed informal approval from her Church during the early years of her ministry. During the pre-independence years, she had wider support when she made “politically correct” statements, presenting them as messages from God.

However, in her later years, she made predictions considered by many to be beyond belief.

She downplayed her vision impairment, saying it was a temporary haziness that would cease before she was taken to heaven and back to earth, which would allegedly be followed by a series of dramatic and miraculous events.

Her body was transported to the Omuthiya police mortuary for a postmortem examination, said the police.
