Staff Reporter

THOMAS Hangula, a 32-year-old resident of the Evululuko informal settlement of Oshakati, was arrested recently and has already made his first court appearance on charges of possession of fuel in excess of 200 litres in a local authority area without a permit, and possession or dealing in illicit goods.

He was apprehended while driving a white GMW pick-up (N32046SH) on the main road between Oshakati and Ongwediva, allegedly transporting illicit fuel and several crates of Angolan Cuca beer and Cider Booster.

The police confiscated 35 fuel containers of 25 litres each, eight crates of Cuca beer, and five crates of Cider Booster, each containing 24 bottles.

The total value of the fuel and drinks is estimated to be N$20,750.

A cash amount of N$70 was also confiscated and booked on a Pol 7 form together with other exhibits.
