WHAT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah promises, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah delivers.
That was the case with her promise to build earth dams in the Okaku Constituency of the Oshana Region to alleviate water scarcity. The promise was made in March 2023 during a by-election campaign.
Detractors dismissed the promise as yet another empty talk, common during electioneering campaigns. But Nandi-Ndaitwah was back in Okaku on Thursday to hand over the earth dams.
“When I speak to Namibians, I don’t tell people what they want to hear even when I know it cannot be done, but I tell people what I know is a necessity and can be done. It was here in Okaku Constituency on the 12th of March 2023, when I told the residents of Okaku in particular, and Oshana Region in general, that the SWAPO Party-led government would build earth dams in this region. I undertook to ensure that those dams are built,” she said.
She handed over eleven earth dams constructed across all eleven constituencies of the Oshana Region at a total cost of N$14.2 million.
