THE Ohangwena Region is rapidly positioning itself as a hub for economic growth.
Eenhana Town Mayor, Omri-Onn Kavandje, said that both the region and Eenhana offer diverse economic opportunities.
He made these remarks during the combined inauguration of the Photovoltaic/Solar Plant for NEV TVET Hub at the Eenhana Vocational Training Centre, which encompasses Nakayale, Eenhana, and Valombola Vocational Training Centres, all under the Namibia Training Authority (NTA), at Eenhana on Friday.
He indicated that the availability of technical skills is crucial for regional and local economic, industrial, and social development.
“Our country has high hopes for the TVET sector—please continue to set the bar high,” he said.
He added that the youth must embrace these technical training opportunities, empowering themselves with the skills needed to add value to their natural resources and capitalize on the economic prospects available.
The youth represent the future and hope of the nation—talented, innovative, strong, and persistent.
Kavandje added that every Namibian child should have access to TVET, and they must work together to empower and equip them to become leaders and positive contributors to their communities.
“We are greatly encouraged by the ongoing investment in Eenhana VTC. This centre is on the right path, and we look forward to seeing many more cohorts of highly skilled graduates who are ready to enter the workforce with confidence and make a positive impact on their families, communities, this region, and the nation as a whole,” he added.
He emphasized that the people of Ohangwena are fully committed to supporting this vital institution.
