THE seventh edition of the Top Score Oshiwana 7-A-Side tournament kicked off on Thursday, with various football teams marking their territories.
This year also saw northern journalists participating in the tournament for the first time. However, their debut was not promising, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to DTMMED Africa MOTTO FC.
The game started at a slow pace due to a technical error, causing the players to wait for about two hours before they could begin their matches.
The tournament’s main promoter, Jackson Felisberto Da Silva, said that 91 teams have registered to date, including 71 soccer teams, 9 volleyball teams, and 11 netball teams.
According to Da Silva, the tournament is going well so far, and they expect more people to attend from Friday through Sunday.
“The delay was due to the wet field, which prevented the players from starting on time. However, everything later went smoothly,” he said.
He wished all the teams the best of luck in the tournament.
The tournament is taking place at Embadu Stadium in Uukwangula settlement and will conclude on Sunday.
